Our Story
In 2023, we became the new owners of a long-standing orchard here in Port Elgin. The farm had been growing apples for over 30 years and was already a place families returned to year after year. When we stepped in, we saw the potential, and the responsibility, of carrying that tradition forward. So we rolled up our sleeves and got to work.

However, before we could pick a single apple, a late spring freeze wiped out the entire crop.

That first season was supposed to be our big start… and instead, we spent it watching trees grow, studying the land, and hoping for a better year ahead.

2024 brought our first real harvest — full trees, long days, and a whole lot of people who showed up to support us. It was a reminder of why we took the leap in the first place.

Today, we’re focused on building something lasting at Smiths’ Apples. The orchard came with a lot to love. A pick-your-own apple experience, a corn maze that draws families year after year, a play area where kids can run free, and a bakery that makes the whole place smell like home.

We didn’t create these things, but we believe in them, and we’re doing our best to keep them growing. We’re proud to be a small Canadian farm, family-run and rooted in the local community. Whether you’re here to pick apples, get lost in the corn maze, grab a pie, or just enjoy a day outside, we’re glad you’re here.
